Awana is an international youth program offered by our church as a positive influence in the development of our area’s young people. It is a week-night club program designed to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ, and to train them to serve Him. The Awana name is derived from an idea in the Bible found in II Timothy 2:15, “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.”
Our club is one of over 12,000 in the United States, and our charter number is #5328. There are an additional 7000+ clubs around the world. We are in our 28th year of Awana at Calvary Baptist Church. Awana is for all boys and girls regardless of church affiliation. It is made up of 4 individual clubs:
Awana meets at Calvary Baptist Church each Wednesday evening when school is in session (Sept-May) . This year Awana will begin on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. The meetings run from 6:45 to 8:30 PM. Each Awana meeting is divided into 3 segments:
There are handbooks and uniforms for each of the clubs. When a child first attends Awana, he/she is given an entrance booklet. Upon completion of the lessons in this booklet, he/she will receive a handbook. We do not charge a registration fee and will not charge for the first of any handbooks the children receive. The only charge will be for replacements. The awards earned through the handbook are displayed on the clubber’s uniform.
We encourage you to work with your child to help him or her complete the work in the Awana Handbook. With the Lord’s blessing, we’ll see tremendous growth in the boys and girls that attend. We have a very capable staff of committed and dedicated people serving in our Awana program this year, and we are trusting the Lord for great things.
